You're All I Need
Recently on my Facebook page, I posted a video by John Crist, "The Millenial Missionaries". It's a humorous video that pokes fun at the very real truth that a majority of our current missionaries' "needs" revolve around our comforts and our preferences. If we aren't comfortable then how can we witness? I viewed the video for the first time by John Crist months ago and just recently have watched it again. I knew then, as I do now that the outlook they are portraying in the video is one too many "missionaries" have. The "we" before "He" need. I would say that I hope that it doesn't sound too harsh, but honestly, I do hope it sounds a little harsh. If it causes someone to look at how they are approaching witnessing to non-believers on the mission field or at home, then I'm okay with that. And if you are a Christian, your mission field begins the second you step foot outside of your home. If you live with a non-believer then your field begins the second you open your eyes.
Recently, I was discussing "The Millenial Missionaries" video with a friend, and how too often we also have the view of witnessing within our schedule. I realize that might need some explaining... So if my daily schedule is home, coffee shop, work, grocery store, home, and I meet someone new that is possibly a non-believer and I take the time to share the gospel then that's great! Honestly, that is great. The rut I think most Christians don't realize they are in, is stepping outside of our schedule, outside of our homes and our familiar turf, and purposefully witnessing to non-believers where they are at. When did my day become more about me instead of He?
"Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"
-Hebrews 13:5-6
"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who EARNESTLY SEEK HIM."
-Hebrews 11:6
Too often I think, we like to focus on the rewards God has promised for his followers and the verses that describe those rewards. Too often I think we fail to remember to Whom our focus should be on and that we should be earnestly seeking Him and spending our time and energy sharing His good news with others, instead of what we gain from following Him. Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that those rewards are for someone who is earnestly seeking God. Not in their spare time seeking God. Not when it's convenient seeking. Not when it revolves around my sport's teams schedule seeking. We are meant to earnestly seek God. When we are earnestly seeking Him, everything else pales in comparison. When we are earnestly seeking Him, He is our main thought, instead of an afterthought.
The McCall Clan is adjusting better than we were last week, and every day gets a little easier and more natural. My top priority is that in our adjustment to Indiana, our natural state of mind will be still be God's will for our lives and to purposefully wake up each day with the intention of sharing His good news with someone.
Prayers Answered
*My allergies have taken a dramatic turn and I don't feel like my face is trying to explode every day anymore.
*With allergies under control, my nose is no longer bleeding throughout the day to the point of being nervous to venture outside of home for fear of bleeding intensity that could ensue.
*With a somewhat settling down/flexible schedule developing, a highly noticeable stress is starting to lift from myself, Chris, and the kids.
*My annoyingly twitchy eye for two weeks has been gone for two days now!
Prayers Needed
*Our restlessness nights still remain due to Micah's inability to sleep throughout the night. He is quite restless with lots of tossing and turning, sporadically sitting up, and rare fears that he is alone when he wakes up if he cannot find us. So prayers for Micah and his current struggle to rest.
*Micah's therapy coverage. We are needing to put him on our insurance and he would be 100% covered for therapy = ) .. problem is that we are not able to put him on our insurance until January. Which means therapy would not be able to start until then, unless we paid out of pocket, and the therapy he is needing is not within our means. So prayers that Micah's therapy needs are able to be met sooner rather than later so that he doesn't regress more than he has since our move.
